Equivocation

MODAL ONTOLOGICAL ARGUMENT

(1) God is either necessary or unnecessary.
(2) God is not unnecessary, therefore God must be necessary.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

Now, unfortunately, I gave this argument consideration for about a minute before I realised what it was doing. I was struck by its simplicity and it really worried me for a bit. I feel kinda idiotic. Should I be admitting my stupid mistakes to the world?
