Values

If you really value you something, then you should do something to bring it about. It's not enough to say, I really feel sorry for those people hit by the hurricane. If you really do feel sorry for them, you should do something to relieve that suffering. Don't simply excuse yourself by saying you can't do anything, or that your help doesn't matter. There is tons you can do, and yes it matters.

Likewise, if you value anise, then you should tell people about the virtues of anise. If you value your religion, you should attempt to convert people. If you like tango, teach tango.

Real virtue is not simply a matter of passively admiring things around you. If you want to show your virtue, then you should go out and do something about it.Besides, if you never confront anyone with opposing views - how will you ever be able to evaluate that what you think is correct?
